  • The Hospital Ship Kyarra, leaves Suez to transport Australian wounded home
  • The Leader reports:

Leith Lamrock has written to say that he is attached to a machine gun section, and will soon be operating it against the enemy. En passant, he says soldiering is the life for him; he positively revels in it.

  • The Leader reports that 100 Italian women are learning how to drive trams to replace men that have gone to the front. Women Run Trams
  • The Dardanelles Committee of the British Cabinet convenes in London to oversee the campaign and to agree on the level of support it should receive
  • The GermanĀ zeppelin LZ-37 is destroyed in mid-air near Ghent in Belgium by Lt Warneford of the Royal Naval Air Service. This is the first time that an airship is successfully attacked by an aeroplane.
