  • The Leader reports that Richard William Bonner has been wounded in action. Pte Bonner
  • The Leader publishes a letter from George Tidex from Egypt. Tidex describes an altercation that took place in Cairo on Good Friday between some New Zealand soldiers and the locals. He also expresses his delight at having received his marching orders: We leave here on Saturday morning at 3-35 for Alexandria, and thence to somewhere unknown, about five days sail. We shall land in lifeboats with rations for two days, and one quart of water to do the same time; also, if necessary, 200 rounds of ammunition.” From the Front
