  • The Leader reports that the first boatload of 281 wounded Australian and New Zealand soldiers has arrived in Fremantle, some of whom are clearly suffering from what we now know to be Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Returned from the War

Many are suffering a form of paralysis, though showing no wounds whatever… One man explained that the bullet struck the barrel of his rifle, and the force of the impact utterly shattered his nerves, leaving him a mere shaking half paralysed mass.
