  • The third German attempt to bomb the United Kingdom fails when the naval Zeppelin L-8 encounters a gale over the North Sea and is blown out of control over Nieuwpoort, Belgium, where Belgian antiaircraft gunners shoot her down
  • The French Government decides to send an Expeditionary Force to the Dardanelles
