  • Representatives of Britain and Germany terminate negotiations at The Hague and sign an agreement for the exchange of combatant and civilian prisoners of war
  • The first regular convoy of merchant ships sails from Hampton Roads, Virginia, for Britain. The new convoy system was adopted by the British Navy in an attempt to frustrate the German U-boat campaign.
