  • Mayor of Orange, Edwin Thomas McNeilly, criticises the management of recruiting in Orange, saying the he has been obliged to provide funds to new recruits for food, despite the presence of five Government officers at the Drill Hall. He describes the situation as “scandalous” and threatens to inform the Member for Orange. Recruiting – The Mayor Takes a Stand
  • The Leader reports that 300 people flocked to Millthorpe Railway Station on Saturday to welcome home Bert Coneybeare and Peter Bowling from the war. The Town Band played “Home Sweet Home” as they alighted from the train. Soldiers Welcomed Home
