  • Allied forces in Belgium make strong advances from Ypres, forcing a German retreat. Fighting in the Battle of the Flanders Ridges continues until 10 October.
  • The Australian Mounted Division in Palestine and No 1 Squadron of the Australian Flying Corps are engaged in the Battle at Megiddo. The Allied victory is decisive, with 70,000 Turkish soldiers taken prisoner.
