  • The newly arrived first contingent of US troops march through the streets of Paris to the grave of the Marquis de Lafayette, French aristocrat and hero of the American Revolutionary War. On arrival, Colonel Charles Stanton famously declares “Nous voila, Lafayette!” [Lafayette, we are here!] US troops march through Paris
  • 25 German Gotha bombers raid Harwich in the United Kingdom. They drop 42 bombs, killing 17 people, injuring 30 and causing £2,065 worth of damage.
