  • German troops capture the French villages of Fere-en-Tardenois and Vezilly and advance towards Ville-en-Tardenois, capturing 35,000 prisoners
  • German submarine SM U-62 torpedoes the British passenger ship Ausonia in the Atlantic Ocean 1,150 km west of the Fastnet Rock. The Ausonia sinks with the loss of 44 crew.
