- Edward Davis [aka Joseph Davis] is killed in action in Belgium
- Senator Edward Davis Millen is appointed Australia’s first Minister for Repatriation. The Repatriation Committee would come to encompass healthcare, compensation, soldier settlement, and vocational training to help returned men find work.
