  • A flotilla of 23 German torpedo boats launch a raid in Dover Strait in an attempt to disrupt the Dover Barrage (anti-submarine blockade) and destroy Allied shipping. The raid is a success: seven British vessels, including the destroyer HMS Nubian, are sunk, and another seven damaged. 45 men are killed, four wounded and ten taken prisoner. Only one German torpedo boat is damaged; there are no German casualties.
