- Ernest Lachlan Powter enlists. Ernest is the youngest known recruit from Orange to enlist in WWI. Ernest is commemorated on the Centenary of WWI in Orange Honour Roll; he would die of wounds in France on 1 November 1916.
- Ivan William McLachlan enlists. Ivan is commemorated on the Centenary of WWI in Orange Honour Roll; he would be killed in action in Belgium on 15 November 1916.
- The Sisters of St Joseph’s Convent in Cargo receive a letter from an old student – Norman Douglas Sherwin
