- John Wright enlists. John is commemorated on the Centenary of WWI in Orange Honour Roll; he would die of wounds in France on 9 June 1917.
- Sergeant John Robins of the 5th Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment, is shot at dawn on the beach at Helles for ‘wilfully disobeying an order given by a superior officer in the execution of his duty’
- French forces are evacuated from Helles
