- Women of Orange gather at the Town Hall to discuss how best to provide Christmas Cheer for local soldiers serving overseas. It is decided that instead of sending hampers, a major fundraising drive will be held on 30 August – a combined Christmas Cheer and Wattle Day. All proceeds will be sent to England, where comforts will be purchased and distributed to soldiers. Christmas Cheer
