  • Soissons and Amiens are reoccupied by French forces
  • British Government issue orders for the raising of the third New Army of six divisions
  • The Battle of the Aisne starts. German armies stop Franco-British counter-attack astride the River Aisne. The battle lasts until 15 September.
  • Troops from South Africa begin invading German South-West Africa
