- The 1st Australian Division repels several heavy German attacks at Hazebrouck, a crucial rail centre, 30 kilometres west of Armentieres on the Western Front. The Division halts the German advance eight kilometres from the town centre.
- Eric Barnes of McLachlan Street, East Orange, tells of his voyage to the front aboard SS Euripides. He describes in great detail the vessel’s passage through the Panama Canal and shares his adventures in port at Colon and Port of Spain, Trinidad. A Soldier’s Letter
