  • Roy George Sterling, the son of Orange boxer George Sterling, is captured by German troops but manages to escape by employing some of his father’s deft moves. He sustains a gunshot wound to the hip in the process. Dad’s Straight Left
  • Oliver James Thorpe sends news from France. He says he is stationed in France near where his father was wounded. Soldiers’ Letters
  • Octavius Edward Thorpe, Oliver’s brother, also writes home to say that he and his colleagues are dressing 300 wounds daily. Still Doing His Bit
