  • Alfred John Dooley enlists. Alfred is commemorated on the Centenary of WWI in Orange Honour Roll; he would be killed in action in France on 13 May 1917.

  • The First Battle of Doiran commences as three French and one British division with 45,000 men and 400 guns launch an offensive against Bulgarian positions at Lake Dojran in present day Macedonia. Fighting continues until 18 August and results in an Allied failure. Allied casualties number 3,200; Bulgaria 851.
